Why should MY Charlotte County business contribute to United at Work?

Individuals and families are most financially stable when there is a steady income in the household.
Workplaces are most productive when they can retain employees, avoiding the costs of rehiring and retraining.
Collaborating together builds confidence and provides a sense of security for employers and their employees.

How do my employees get connected to resources?

Once other resources have been exhausted, please have your employees click the GET HELP button on this page and complete a brief intake form to get started. Someone from the United Way of Charlotte County team will reach out to them in the days ahead to complete a full application and determine what assistance they might be eligible for. Funds will be distributed to individuals who qualify, as long as funds are available.

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County’s Suncoast Disaster Recovery Fund and Gulf Coast Community Foundation have generously supported United at Work through grant funding. United Way of Charlotte County is grateful for this support of what has already been an extremely successful new program!

United at Work has provided funds via case management navigation to supplement existing services provided by state and local organizations following Hurricane Ian and now Idalia to meet the disaster-caused unmet needs of survivors adequately.

The Suncoast Disaster Recovery Fund and the Gulf Coast Community Foundation have helped meet the program costs associated with operating United at Work, as 100% of all United at Work donations go directly to individuals and families in need.

United Way of Charlotte County has created a program to help strengthen the local workforce following recent hurricanes. United at Work was established to assist employees of Charlotte County businesses with unmet needs that are identified after other funds have been depleted or are no longer available.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Elsa & Peter Soderberg Foundation, donations to United at Work were matched dollar for dollar up to $500,000

Soderberg Grant

-- for a $1,000,000+ pool of resources to get Charlotte County employees on their feet and back to work after Hurricane Ian.
