Pivot to Rescheduled Events
By Angie Matthiessen, Executive Director
When planning events, it’s always a guessing game. With many events in our community, this past year we were so excited to set our dates a year in advance. Well, the joke is on us and as many of us can attest, ‘pivot’ is our new word. Adapting to the needs of our community is a must.
When the recent hurricanes had left their mark, we watched as countless organizations changed their dates and knew as well that ours would need to be changed.
At United Way of Charlotte County (UWCC), we are deeply committed to the needs of our community, and we understand that now, more than ever, our focus must be on recovery and support.
The 2nd annual United at Work Summit was a uniquely designed event for our community and region, now scheduled for January 14, 2025. Mike Luster, Lead Clinician & Mental Health Trainer, as our Keynote Speaker will ‘pivot’ his content. The focus will now include a significant emphasis on mental health in the workplace and supporting employees in the aftermath of disaster. Mike is the Founder of Mental Health Resources and will be here along with his wife Lynn from Atlanta, Georgia. You will not want to miss the gift of this experience for you and ultimately the ripple effects for our workforce and community. The Summit will offer a fresh start for the New Year, and we look forward to seeing you there.
The inaugural Ageless United Lunch is now scheduled for January 28, 2025. Dr. Thomas Felke, Director of Florida Gulf Coast University's Shady Rest Institute on Positive Aging will be our featured keynote speaker. This timely event will speak to critical solutions and resources within our region and community for our aging population – fondly termed the ‘ageless’ in our eyes. Your generous investment in our event supports Ageless Engagement strategic priorities in our community. Together, let's transform aging into a positive experience for everyone.
Finally, Festival of Wreaths – Holiday in the Courtyard on December 4, 2024. We're excited to invite you to a co-ed heartwarming holiday event that embodies the spirit of community while strolling through the beautiful variety of wreaths hosted by both Ageless United and Women United. Wreaths with a purpose support Ageless United's vital work with seniors. There is no charge, but we kindly ask for a $10 or $20 gift card to be given to Kids Thrive Circle of Parents for the holidays.
Lastly, to ensure you are fully on board with our fun start to 2025, we want to make sure you are aware of two more events that have not changed but benefit our community. The Women United Lunch on February 13, 2025 will support literacy and family empowerment.
Wrapping up a very busy Spring will be our 10th Annual Beaujolais Starry Nights scheduled for March 7, 2025. This is Charlotte County’s premiere wine tasting and tapas event which benefits our UWCC general campaign.
In a nutshell, our Board, Committees and Staff know these are important events for our community. Taking care of seniors, families and the workforce is our focus and priority. We know your time is valuable and want to make sure that you get the most out of these events.
